ST. JOHN'S, Antigua and Barbuda – Antigua and Barbuda played to a 2-1 win against Aruba in Group C of League B action in the Concacaf Nations League on Monday afternoon at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda.

The visitors generated more opportunities in the first half, outshooting their opponents 8-4, but it would be the home side who got on the scoreboard first.

Antigua and Barbuda took the 1-0 lead after a D'Andre Bishop solo play to beat Aruba goalkeeper Matthew Lentink in the eighth minute.

Aruba forward Terence Groothusen then tied the encounter after heading in a whipped in ball from Annuar Kock in the 45+5’.

Joshua Gross nearly had the go-ahead goal for the visitors, doing everything to get past Antigua goalkeeper Molvin James, but his 65th minute opportunity would go just wide of the far post.

The Benna Boys would be the ones to retake the lead after Tyrique Tonge found some open space on the right side of the field to play in the assist for Tevaughn Harriette’s goal in the 69th minute.

With the result, Antigua and Barbuda finish their September fixtures with three points, while Aruba leave emptyhanded after going winless in their first two CNL matches.
